Josh & Allison Balthrop!

Filed under: Family — Andrew & Amanda LeJeune @ 5:14 pm

OH happy day! Allison and Josh are married!  We had a wonderful family filled, fun wedding weekend.  On Thursday night when we arrived the family was hanging out at this rodeo practice arena/dance hall place.  It was really fun.  Danced with Andrew, G-daddy, my bro Joel, and my Dad.  My aunt, who is so not a shy person, got up and sang with the band.  She did great too.

Friday was busy.  The rental people came to set up tents, Mom had us everywhere fixing stuff, putting things together.  The girlies went and got our nails did, which was fun.  The only minor things that happened were that it rained really hard and ruined our paper chinese lanterns, but thankfully Pier 1 had some.  And we think the rental men must have driven a stake down in the ground that severed some wires and cut the electricity to the pergula and tent lighting, but Dad improvised.  SO other than those things we were looking good on Friday.

The rehersal was a blast.  At the end, the whole wedding party put on the Chris Brown song “Forever” that was in that JK wedding dance video. It was so fun!!! We even had the first guys throw paper in the air at the beginning.  My aunt captured a little bit of the video.  I’ll have to post a link a little later.  Here’s a still image.

The rehersal dinner was out on South Padre Island and was terrific.  Good food, awesome firework show,  and a SWEET time of fellowship with testimonies of Josh and Allison’s character and their relationship.  Most everyone was in tears, including me, who got to pour out my heart and affirm her in a very healing way to me and her.  We were all praising God together! This was probably my favorite part of the weekend.

Saturday we hung out and got to enjoy the slower pace since we had worked hard on Friday.  The wedding wasn’t until 7pm.  It was a cool ceremony.  Allison and Josh did things differently.  In following a Jewish tradition where the man goes away once she’s agreed to marry him to his father’s house to add on and prepare a place for them.  Jesus talks to his discplies about how his relationship with them is like that tradition in John 14 (which they had read at their wedding).  In addition once the man had prepared a place, his father was the one to okay it and say it’s ready, now you can go get your bride.  The processional went as follows:  the bridesmaids walked in, then Allison and Dad walked in and stood at the front expectantly awaiting the bridegroom to come,  the groomsmen walked in, Josh’s father walked in and then finally Josh.  The pastor then asks Josh’s father, “Do you believe Josh has prepared an sufficient place for Allison.” And then he affirmed it.  Then Dad is asked, “Who gives this woman away…” you know the rest.   They also invited everyone to take communion with them, which consisted of grapes and flat bread.  It was a neat ceremony.

The reception was out at our parents place and it turned out beautiful. I took some photos of before and during.  The party was beautiful and fun.  She was beautiful.  Josh did this hilarious dance as you will see for her all by himself.  They left with sparklers.

It was a great weekend together with our friends and family.

Hey all.  Andrew and I have been better within the last months about listening to christian talk radio, getting informed of what’s going on and how we can be involved.  I encourage you to do the same.  You don’t have to be politically savvy….I’m not.  But I do want to be apart of standing in opposition to things I disagree with, not just let them happen.

Here’s a video put on by www.stoptheabortionmandate.com.  I encourage you to email or call your representatives and tell them you are not in support of the healthcare reform bill which will include abortions as a health procedure (if it is not clearly stated otherwise) and the American people will be paying for this.  Let’s stand up for what is upright.

Courtney Gainer!! We had a blast together even though our numbers were low.  As you can tell things got pretty interesting at the party!

Let me just tell ya…parties are a WHOLE lot more fun with a large woman inflatable suit that has a bodysuit and tutu on it! We about peed in our pants laughing as we played the games with this on.  Most everyone got in it at one point.  It was hysterical.

Afterward  we went to South Lake, which is this neat little shopping area.  I visited Anthropolgie for the first time and loved it.  Pretty pricey, but fun stuff.  Gives you some good ideas to take with you to recreate for less sometime.  We ate at this fun pizza place that had a patio on top playing live music.  The guys were busting out Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, and Bob Marley, so it was very chill and we all really liked it.  We had a fun time together for sure!

That night we watched Bella. If you haven’t seen this movie I recommend renting it.  It hits on adoption vs. abortion issue as well as family, faith, and frienship.  Very good movie.  And you will probably need tissue.   We also helped Allison work on her wedding programs! YAY! It’s this Saturday.  I can’t wait.  More postst come after the wedding.

Amanda's pictures 815 All the flowers in God’s garden are double

God’s mercy is manifold.  I love this phrase above.  It just captivated me today with thoughts of beautiful flowers.  “There is no single mercy. You may think you have but one mercy, but you shall find it to be a whole cluster of mercies (I’m quoting here from the Spurgeon devotional Kyndall sent me today).  Isn’t that garden beautiful too? I’m itching to go to a garden sometime soon too.  Reflect on his mercy today.  I know I am.

Healthy Eats August 14, 2009

healthy-diet-shakesWe didn’t eat healthy on Thursday but it was well worth it to see Greg and Libby Paul again.  They just moved to Lancaster, PA but were in town for Greg getting his PhD!  So we got to see them at C&J’s BBQ.

On the other hand,  many of my healthified friends over the years have given me some info for tips on eating healthy (Thank you college roomies! ) I appreciate friends’ enthusiasm and information and as such am seeking to put some good habits to use in cooking for my family to keep our temples in good condition all the days God has ordained for us.  I don’t think we need to fret or fear what we eat constantly.  I think too much emphasis on what food to eat/not to eat can become and idol in itself and rob you of some joy.

That being said. You’ll probably laugh at the recipe that I’m about to give you since the title in and of itself seems humorous after what I’ve just said.  These are not the BEST for you but BETTER than most maybe  🙂

My friend MacKenzie made some yummy brownies with smashed black beans.  You’d be suprised at what you can do with veggies.  I was!

Okay now for the recipe I just got from http://www.eatbetteramerica.com…

Chocolate Chip Cookies

3/4 c. sugar

3/4 c. packed brown sugar

1/2 c. butter, softened

1/2 c. canola oil

1 tsp. vanilla

1 egg

2 c. whole wheat flour

1 tsp. baking soda

1/4 tsp. salt

3/4 c. miniature semi-sweet chocolate chips

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Beat sugars, butter, oil, vanilla, and egg with a mixer on low. Beat in flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir in chocolate chips.  Bake 7-9 minutes on greased cookie sheet 2 in. apart.

*Disclaimer: I have not yet tried this recipe. I’m just giving information 😉  BUT I will be trying this *

Susan Turns 50! August 4, 2009

Picture 044Susan turned 50 this weekend! It’s hard to believe.  I don’t think she looks it at all.  She’s such a sweet mother- in-law.  We had fun this weekend.  We helped a Joseph and Courtney move into their new pad.  Saturday morning we went out and helped make the wooded path behind Brandon and Leslie’s house a little more explorer friendly.  I got to use a chain saw for the first time! Look at me! Tough stuff I’m telling you 😉

We enjoyed getting to be with our family and got to see Andrew’s aunts and uncles and grandparents.  The cake at her party was amazing.  Seriously, I’d never tasted so good.  I don’t know how they made it, but it was chocolately/raspberry mousee goodness.  We got to hang out with Katey, Andrew’s sista, who we lub muchos and Andrew took her on a bro/sis date on Sunday to paint pottery and get her favorite smoothie at Jack in the Box.  Love sibling love!

New prayer request: please pray for Andrew and I as we continue to seek God on where we should be for while.  He’s considering substitute teaching in all 4 neighboring ISD’s and then becoming a speech teacher/coach.  So he could be going to get our alternative certification sometime soon. We’ll see.  Counseling still seems to be the long term goal still though. Keep us in your prayers.

SOON AND VERY SOON: Allison will be marrying Josh in 3 weeks! YAY new family!
